I was googling around for interesting questions I could ask guests on my podcast when I came across this list of 350 good questions to ask. I loved it. I found myself reading all the questions and then answering them in my head. I realized this would be an interesting way for me to share what I think.
So that’s what I’m doing, and you’re welcome to join me by leaving YOUR answers to some of these questions in the comments.
Here are my answers for questions 9 - 16
9 - If your job gave you a surprise three day paid break to rest and recuperate, what would you do with those three days?
Now that I’m my own independent employee—that makes me the boss—I can take a three-day break anytime I want. Just depends on how much money I don’t want to make since I won’t be paid for my holiday’s until I set up a better passive income business. I’m working on it. But first, let go of the idea that anyone is paying you for a holiday. They aren’t. They’re paying you to come back. But I suppose if a client threw some money at me so I could “rest” I would do just that. I’d go rest on a beach in Thailand somewhere.
10 - Where do you get your news?
I really hate most news to be honest. I check CNN almost every morning, mostly out of curiosity. I do a quick scan of the horrible or boring headlines and then click out. I then check my Feedly. This is a kind of content organizer I started using years and years ago. Not sure if it’s still the best around but I’m used to it. I’ve categorized all the blogs I follow into these categories: culture, psychology, productivity, branding, design & art, photography, fashion, food, and tea.
Some of my go-to sites for content are Vice, Dazed and Confused, MindBodyGreen, PsyBlog, Lifehacker, Wired, FastCompany, Bon Appétit.
11 - What movie can you watch over and over without ever getting tired of?
I know a lot of people who can watch movies over and over. I’ve never been one. I watch a movie once, enjoy it, and I’m over it. However. There have a been a FEW I’ve gotten all junkie about. An old one was The Beach. ( which I listed in my Netflix article ) This was partly due to the fact that, at the time, I only had a few movies on my hard drive to watch for free whenever I wanted to. It was WAY before Netflix. And I never enjoyed downloading movies. I just can’t be bothered. So I would just watch that one over and over. Yeah I enjoyed it.
Another more recent movie I went junkie over was Interstellar. I actually watched this in the theatre TWICE. That’s how much I enjoyed it. I also love the new Blade Runner movie and could watch that one over and over IF only I had a file for it or Netflix would add it. I love space ok.
12 - What’s wrong but sounds right?
Most people’s interpretation of the bible and other religious texts.
13 - What’s the most epic way you’ve seen someone quit or be fired?
Unfortunately I never witnessed or experienced anything truly epic. That’s a shame too. I think there SHOULD be more epic quitting’s but I know I never had the courage to be that person either. A former boss once got the attention of everyone in the room to announce the firing of an employee who had apparently lied and falsified his way into his position in the company. Not very “epic” but it was kind of funny to hear that announced to everyone publicly.
14 - If you couldn’t be convicted of any one type of crime, what criminal charge would you like to be immune to?
Counterfeiting. I’d be making all sorts of money YO. Wouldn’t even matter if it was good counterfeiting or not. I’d just be scribbling on papers to see if I could trick anyone.
15 - What social stigma does society need to get over?
Social stigmas about relationships and sexual orientations of all kinds. Why some people care SO MUCH about how other people mate or choose to form relationships has always blown my mind. I think it always comes down to jealously for the most part. ( The law of power #36: Distain the things you cannot have ) I think the stigmas around people’s lack of engagement in certain activities will be another social hurdle to eventually get over. Like people choosing to be single forever, or not have children. Those are old stigmas, but they have stuck around.
16 - What’s the most creative use of emojis you’ve ever seen?
Years ago a weird musician I like, Oneohtrix Point Never, made a music video that only uses emojis. It’s by far the most creative use of emojis I’VE ever seen.
